Because I am who I am and doing what I do I get to meet some amazing people. The fortunate side of wine is that everyone that has some sort of “Top Drop” and accordingly wants to boast about it. The difference between myself and others is that I can normally challenge the happy vendor with a bottle of equivalent stature or value and willingly will sacrifice it to share with them. Normally this is my key technique to
- I get to make a life long friend and hear some amazing stories
- I get to drink 2 amazing wines at once and compare
- I get to test their cellar conditions (see if their wine is in good condition)
- It opens a word of mouth referral for me
- Finally it allows me to build a level of trust and gives me enough time to analyse their cellar in detail.
Most of the time the wines are amazing and very rarely are they corked (See tests about TCA) which shows me that the vendor cares for their wines and has the same level of passion as I would towards to the bottled gems and I also generally hear some sort of story where the vendor wants to sell their wines to a great home as they feel that they may never find the time to consume these in their foreseeable future.
Generally this is a win-win for them, me and my clients. Sometimes it is a loss for me as selling some of these little gems becomes emotional to me but still they have a life cycle and need to fulfil the joy to someone if I will not consume.
Without all the words I am constantly exploring peoples gems and always seeking to find more wines as the stock I have is constantly moving to new welcoming hands and I am always in need of replenishment. I pick my cellars and buy with diligence and constantly receiving amazing referrals for your potential purchase.
